Young Birders ROC!
Whether you are watching juncos from your backyard or are loaded down with the latest birding equipment and apps, you’ve found your way here because you are interested in birds! The Rochester region is teeming with young people just like you, and the Rochester Birding Association can help connect you with other young birders while we nurture your curiosity and help you take your birding skills to the next level.
The RBA takes our mission of inspiring young people seriously, and we’ve created a special program aimed at developing a community of young birders in the Rochester area. Our monthly field trips are open to all, and they are a great way for both beginners and experienced birders to share their common interest in a safe, fun, and friendly way.
If you want to go a step further, you can join the RBA as a junior or family member, and you’ll receive a copy of the RBA newsletter, discounts on our educational workshops and the opportunity to join our Youth Advisory Board. We even have a scholarship program to help young birders attend summer birding camps. Junior memberships are just $15 a year, and families can join for as little as $25.
By connecting with your local birding community, you will be exposed to birding, nature, digital photography, birding technology, mobile apps, bird migration patterns, bird monitoring, and data exploration. You can bird quietly with other members, or – if you want to share what you see – we may feature some of your bird-related photos or projects on our website, ask you to guest blog, and more.
Contact us and our Young Birder Ambassador will show you how to get started!
