This is a field trip to the private property of Janet Smith for spring migrants, early nesters, and waterfowl. Two adjacent easements make up 187 acres that include two large ponds, mature woodland, and open fields all within 0.5 mi. of Lake Ontario.

We will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Lucien Morin Parking lot off Empire Blvd. in Penfield. The parking lot is on the south side of Empire Blvd. just east of the bridge over Irondequoit Creek at the south end of Irondequoit Bay.

Norway Road Field Trip

This unassuming trip usually racks up one of the longest bird lists of the year. From nesting Cerulean Warbler to Purple Martin along the lake, this trip showcases roadside birding in spectacular fashion!

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge Field Trip

We will search for Prothonotary Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, Cerulean Warbler, and other nesting birds at this local natural treasure. We’ll drive to various spots in the Refuge and take an easy walk along one of the very scenic trails.

Canadice Lake Field Trip

Down the east side of the lake for a variety of nesting passerines, especially warblers and vireos. There will be a short walk at the south end of the lake but mostly we’ll drive and park along the shore.

Bergen Swamp Field Trip

A trip to this unique place is by special permit from the Bergen Swamp Preservation Society and will feature nesting birds.

Allegany County Breeding Birds Field Trip

We'll begin our day along Rt. 21 overlooking Almond Dam looking for Bald Eagle, and possible shorebirds. We'll bird in Christmas tree plantations in the town of Andover for nesting Magnolia, Prairie, and Yellow-rumped Warbler and possible Clay-colored Sparrow.

Letchworth State Park Field Trip

This trip frequently boasts more birds than any other RBA field trip: of course, it gets an early start! We’ll look for birds not frequently seen on other trips, such as Acadian Flycatcher and Barred Owl.
