Join us for the 120th Christmas Bird Count of the National Audubon Society and the 116th Rochester CBC. If you cannot bird in the field, watch your feeder and phone results to the area leader. We’ll pair new observers with experienced birders.

Participating in a Christmas Bird Count is an annual tradition for many birders, and this will be the 116th CBC in Rochester. In a Christmas Bird Count, birders try to count as many birds as possible within a particular “count circle.”

Little Lakes Christmas Bird Count – Saturday, December 28th, 2019

This year marks the 120th count nationwide and the 68th count for the area. The count date is Saturday, December 28, 2019. Birds seen during the count week of December 25 to January 2 may be called in to the leaders for inclusion in the tally.

Avon and Lima Rural Tour Field Trip

Join the Rochester Birding Association for the first Birds and Brews of 2020! The first event of the year will coincide with the Nations Rd birding trip on Saturday, January 25th. 

Lakeshore Plains West Field Trip

A driving tour of the farm fields and open lands to the west of Rochester, this trip will search for Snow Buntings, Lapland Longspurs, Northern Shrikes, and hawks in the plains and country roads of western Monroe and Orleans Counties.

Winter Waterfowl and Other Possibilities

We will look for Long-tailed Ducks, mergansers, scaup and others that may be present.  We will then drive over to Summerville and Charlotte to see what is in the river.
